In 2025, as Camp Director, Alanah managed daily functions of the camp, with a focus on Apple Hill’s core values of inclusivity, mutual respect, acceptance, listening, and supporting. Apple Hill has instilled in Alanah a desire to support and empathize with students from all backgrounds. With hard work and practice, any student can achieve their musical goals. In addition to Apple Hill, Alanah has performed at music festivals such as Eastern Music Festival and Interlochen Center for the Arts, where she was principal viola.

Alanah aims to inspire and support her Viola and Violin students on their unique musical journeys. With a supportive student-centered approach, Alanah encourages students to think outside the box.

In addition to Suzuki music, Alanah empowers her students to learn all genres and styles. She enjoys arranging popular music for violin and viola so that students can learn to play their favorite songs and stay engaged in lessons.

With almost a decade of teaching experience, Alanah enjoys teaching students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. No two students are the same, and Alanah aims to tailor lessons to each individual student to fit their unique goals and motivations. Alanah’s primary teachers include Katherine Murdock, Karin Brown (BSO), and Susan Dapkunas (ASO).

Mission

I aim to do whatever I can to make the world a better place through music education. I hope that I can find as many ways as possible to continually better myself as a teacher, musician, and human. I am a lifelong learner, and I aim to share my love of learning and music with my students and their families. Music has been a catalyst in my life for building my confidence, connections with fellow musicians, and understanding of others from various backgrounds. Before I played viola, I was a shy kid. The classical musical community allowed me the confidence to come out of my shell and express myself. I am excited to empower my students with the tools to express their emotions through music, become better listeners, and cultivate self-discipline and drive.
